Craft Fair Or Trade Show Marketing Tips

by: Leslie Norman

Here are a few easy marketing tips to getting the most sales from your crafts.

1. Have a drawing or a raffle
The purpose of a drawing or a raffle is to collect information about people (you can always send them a flyer of your products in the mail later) and also to draw people into your booth.

2. Organized displays are better
Customers will appreciate organized displays more than messy displays that make them rummage through several items to find the ones they want.

3. Keep the best items at eye level
You are in the business to make money, keep the smaller priced items in the background and put your best stuff in the forefront.

4. Acknowledge each and every customer
Make sure you interact with everyone who comes to your booth. Don't just let them look around, a simple "hello" will create an instant bond with them.

5. Have your items visibly priced
It only frustrates people when they can't find the price tag and have to come and ask "how much is this?" Often times they won't even bother and you've lost a sale.

6. Have a demonstration
Grab peoples' attention as they're walking by with an interactive display or demonstration. Teach them simple crafting skills or have them participate in your demonstration to keep them interested.

7. Make sure to have literature on hand
Your business cards, flyers, and catalogs are very important to give to people who are not going to buy today but will purchase in the future or pass along the info to someone else. Don't be stuck with just giving them your name and phone number on a piece of paper, it's embarassing and they'll probably want to take a second look at your goods, so make sure they have the literature in hand.

These are easy marketing tips to keep in mind when setting up your booth in a Craft Fair or Trade Show. They will help you sell more items and acheive higher profits.
