How To Become An eBay Powerseller

by: Jennifer Clason

You may already be selling your products on eBay or you may just be a buyer, but no matter which one you are you know about the eBay big dogs - the Powerseller.

What is a Powerseller? A Powerseller on eBay is someone who does at least $2,000 a month in sales and has a 99% positive feedback rating. There are different levels of Powersellers, but this is the bare minimum requirements to meet Powerseller status.

Why would you want to be a Powerseller? Well even if you are not a Powerseller it doesn't say that you're a bad business person to deal with, however being a Powerseller is eBay's way of saying "this person is a professional and they have done this time and time again". Basically being a Powerseller raises your credibility with the buyers.

So how can you become a Powerseller? First off you must treat your eBay business like a real business. You're not just selling the ugly sweater that Aunt Martha sent you for Christmas. These buyers are your customers and not only do you want to keep them happy, but you want them to leave positive feedback and most importantly - buy from you again! So treat each and every buyer like he/she is someone who just walked through the door of your brick and mortar shop.

Be organized. I can't stress to you enough how organization goes a long way with selling on eBay. Have enough labels, boxes, and other shipping supplies on demand so that you can immediately send the product out with no hassles. You'll even need to purchase a postage meter or have an account with UPS or FedEx in order to make the shipping process more rapid. These buyers don't want to wait for their stuff!

Use listing software for bulk listings. There is software out there that will help you automate your eBay listings. In fact, eBay even has their own software that you can use called "Mister Lister". It just streamlines listing multiple items and you can even choose to schedule the auction start at a later date if you don't want it to be immediate.

Other tips on how to be a Powerseller:

  • Make sure your listings are very clear in the description of the items. Don't lump all the text together into one paragraph, make sure you have the products features, benefits, and specifications.
  • Run your business from start to finish like an assembly line, however pay attention to detail. The littlest details matter where your customers are concerned and they'll appreciate your special attention.
  • Always use a photo. Don't skimp on the auction by not including a photo of your item for sale. People want to see what they're buying! Invest in a decent digital camera and take the time to take pictures!

And keeping these basic principles in mind, you are well on your way to being a Powerseller! Remember, this is your business so treat it like a real business!
