The Pitfalls
Of Working At Home

Yes working
at home has its advantages and rewards, but like any job it is......well.....a
job.
There
are several pitfalls that you need to avoid while working at home
that are quite easy to fall into:
- Discipline is the
key to working at home. It takes a very well-disciplined person
to make a success from working at home. Not only do you have no
boss to answer to, but it becomes very easy to just lie on the
couch and watch Oprah. You have to kick your own butt and make
yourself work and that's not always easy.
- The ritual of working
outside the home is taken for granted. Getting up in the morning,
having breakfast, taking a shower. These are all things that you
must continue when you work at home. If you let it go you will
not only be less productive, but you'll find that your energy
is lower and you'll be easily distracted. Keep a morning ritual
and take frequent breaks just like an outside the home job.
- Less interaction with
people your own age is one thing I miss the most about working
at home. Sure I love my kids, but sometimes I want "grown
up talk". I miss having co-workers and other adults around
to chat with. This is a great reason to meet up with other WAHM
in your area!
- Less exercise is a
major pitfall. Not only are you not commuting to work, but you
are not walking through the office, up the stairs, and down the
hall at a job. Make sure you have a workout routine when working
at home or those extra pounds will pack on fast!
These are just a few
things to watch out for when you become a WAHM. Just keep all of
these in mind and keep yourself disciplined and you will be successful
in your work at home career!
